I’ve realised that the kind of advising-on-text I enjoy most — and particularly excel at — is substantive in nature. I like reading works and having conversations with their creators. I like understanding what the text wants to be and helping it get there. Whether that’s recognizing what’s missing, cutting what’s getting in the way, reframing, reorganising… That’s my absolute jam.
